Last email from Indonesia

Well....

It's time to face the fact that this really is the last email in Indonesia until I come back as a mission couple with my eternal companion ;) look out eternal companion!!!

I'm so grateful for my mission. It's made me into the kind of member I want to become. I know that it's going to be so hard soon and so different but I'm so excited for the challenges that are coming up. I am so grateful for all the things that I have learned, all the people that I've meet, and just the wonderful opportunities that I've been given. I feel like I can overcome anything now! With God's help :)

Thank you for your love and support. I have been so blessed with your prayers and I am just so grateful for everything that you've all done for me on my mission and off.

I know God lives. He knows you. He loves you. Come unto Him through His Son Jesus Christ and I promise you will be given the strength you need to overcome anything. I know this church is true and that the restored gospel is on the Earth. I know that being a missionary is the best thing ever and I can't wait to apply what I've learned to be a member missionary.

Saya tahu bahwa ini benar
Dalam nama Yesus Kristus, Amin :)

LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!

love,
Sister Sperry :)

Surabaya (Week 71)

Hey ya'll!!

This week was pretty good!! We saw a really sweet miracle and I got to meet lots of my old companions including  and even go on splits with them which is always so fun. I learned a lot about what it takes to be in the Primary and Young Women's presidencies and I am so grateful for Mission couples! Anyway here's a little about my week!
senin: just a regular pday except it FLOODED so much! We were basically riding our bikes through a river it was nuts! It was way higher than the last flood I told you about and it was so fun :) unfortunately we didn't get to teach an investigator because of said flood in her home...

selasa: worked hard, had fun :)_
rabu: just another regular working day and then the Sister Training leaders came and I was reunited with Sister Toegono and SIste Olsen! So fun to meet with them again!

kamis: We had invterveiws and guess what I'm moving next transfer! To Vrginia...huh! That's going to be a really far move...
jumat: PLD was AWESOME!! (big zone meeting). The Spirit was way strong and we learned a lot like usual. I had to say good bye to everyone and cried of course but that's OK. THEN...We had a really cool miracle this week! So I was on splits with Sister Olsen and we had gotten in a taxi to come home. Well neither of us felt good about the taxi; the guy driving was kinda odd and just gave us a bad feeling. So we decided to go out and there was an open restraunt/house place, that we've passed on our bikes A MILLION TIMES, and we decided to go wait there until the taxi went away. Well a man came out speaking perfect Aussie English ;) and asked if he could help us. He's Indonesian but was born in Sydney and went to school in Sydney also. He was surprisingly very open as we explained who we are and what we are doing in Indonesia. He told us about his wife having cancer and how he hasn't found a church that is comfortable for him and his family and even about how he hasn't prayed in a long time. HE said he felt this was the hand of the Lord in his life that we met him that day. Then we made an appointment to meet him again this upcoming Thursday. We were on cloud nine it was awesome!! I'm glad there's another aussie coming into the area soon ;)
sabtu: We went on splits again and this time I was wither Sister Aryanto and Sister Toegono. It was like Jogja all over again! We had fun and road our bikes through some more flooding.
hari minggu: I translated for Sister Williams the whole day! She was doing some training with some of the auxilary leaders and that was really fun to learn about and also to share my testimony with those women about young Womens and Primary. I'm so grateful for all of my leaders in both of those programs. Thank you for following the handbook and for doing such a great job! I would not be where I am without you!!!!

Well we are going to a zoo that's supposed to be real cool. See ya later!!
love,
sister Sperry :)

Surabaya (Week 70)

Howdy ya'll...

Man what a week. This week was tough!!!! We just had a hard time meeting with people and all that jazz but it was still a good week with good things happening. I love working as a missionary in Indonesia and I love working with these awesome people. Here's a little bit about how the week went!
Senin: we spent the day at the hosptial because a new member's kid was sick. She's out as of yesterday now :) It was a long day but it was a good way to spend a pday, in service!

Selasa: Just a normal working day. Nothing special really.

Rabu: We biked really quite far!! It was awesome. we visited a lot of members and heard a great conversion story. I don't have time to tell it but the way the member told it had us laughing until we cried, he's so animated! I love the people here! we also met with a Philipino family that's in the branch here. They are super nice and have a son serving a mission in England right now. They have a great spirit in their home and are wonderful saints!

Kamis: We had a really good planning session so we're stoked for this upcoming week (which is going to be NUTS) and visited another sister who just got out of the hospital. Tis the season to be sick...

Jumat: We seriously had the hardest time finding people to teach this day...but we did a lot of contacting :) that's always a plus!

Sabtu: we worked hard and had fun and there was rain and English class and the whole lot. What a day!

Hari Minggu: Church was awesome, as always. We learned about prayer and I taught the lesson on the Law of Chastity. I learned a lot! The class was very mature too so we were able to have a great lesson and the Spirit was present. I know the Law of Chastity is to help us and bless us and keep us safe. I know our bodies and special gifts from God and we need to take care of them. I also know that Family is so important in God's plan and that Satan will do anything he can to destroy families. DON'T LET HIM!!!!

Well ya'll are great :) until next week! wish me luck with this one :)

love,
sister Sperry :)

Surabya (Week 69)

Wow! Man am I learning a lot about motherhood and sisterhood and just all these things that I didn't think I'd really learn in the mission but I am!!!

I'm not going to tell you all the stories but I want you all to know that I have a testimony of my divine nature as a woman. I recognize this as a very special calling and am very grateful for it. I've learned what it is like to be a true member of the Relief Society and also a true Christian and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm learning just how important Charity is (please turn to Moroni 7 for further explanation) and how this church will go no where without it. I'm also learning how the role of the priesthood fits into my life as a woman. Boy am I grateful for worthy men that hold this amazing power. I'm so grateful that I have been blessed to be surrounded by great young men missionaries that are willing to use that sacred power to bless the lives of others. I know that the priesthood is the same power that Christ holds.

Our roles as member of the church are so important especially in these times. we are to be the salt of the earth, a light unto the world. (Matthew 5). I hope we can all work hard together to be better member and followers of Jesus Christ, true Christians.

I know God lives and loves us and so does Jesus Christ. And I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ amen.

I love you all!! Have a great week and go serve someone!! I promise you won't regret it :)

with love,
Sister Sperry :)
